Curriculum Focus:

Our Montessori toddler program focuses on independence, movement, and communication through purposeful learning activities. Inspired by the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, children work with hands-on materials that help them develop coordination, build early problem-solving skills, and gain confidence. Activities such as food preparation, transferring objects, and caring for the classroom environment help toddlers strengthen important life skills while developing pride in their growing abilities.

Daily Routine:

Toddlers thrive when their days feel calm and predictable. Our daily routine supports each child’s well-being, offering time for movement, exploration, and meaningful interaction. Children enjoy storytelling, music, language development activities, and creative moments that encourage curiosity and imagination. Simple, practical life activities such as preparing snacks and caring for materials help toddlers develop independence and responsibility.

Classroom Experience:

Our Montessori classroom is thoughtfully designed for toddlers, with child-sized furniture, accessible shelves, and inviting workspaces. Children move freely through the environment, choosing activities that match their interests and stage of development. Within this nurturing space, little ones begin to build friendships with other children, strengthen social skills, and discover confidence in themselves.

Essential

The toddler stage is one of the most meaningful periods in a child’s life. During these early years, children develop language, emotional awareness, and independence at an incredible pace. What may look like simple play is actually powerful early learning that helps shape the foundation for future success in school, relationships, and life. At Heritage Montessori, we understand how important these first experiences are for both children and parents. Our toddler program offers a peaceful environment where little ones are encouraged to explore their natural curiosity while feeling safe and supported. Our experienced center director, dedicated staff members, and Montessori educators observe each child closely to guide learning in ways that support each child’s progress.

Between the ages of two and three, toddlers experience extraordinary growth in language, coordination, and confidence. Our Montessori classroom supports this development through purposeful learning areas designed to help children explore their abilities.

  • Practical LifePractical life activities help toddlers develop independence through real-life experiences such as preparing food, caring for materials, and cleaning their work area. These activities help children feel capable and proud while building important life skills.

  • Sensorial Sensorial materials invite children to explore textures, shapes, and patterns. These experiences strengthen concentration and support early cognitive development as toddlers begin to understand their environment.

  • Language – Language development flourishes during the toddler years. Through storytelling, music, and daily conversation, children expand their vocabulary and strengthen communication skills that support relationships and social development.

  • Early Mathematical Awareness – Sorting, stacking, and transferring objects introduce toddlers to early mathematical thinking. These activities help children recognize patterns and relationships that prepare them for later learning.

  • Cultural Exploration – Through music, art, nature exploration, and creative activities, toddlers begin discovering the wider world around them. These experiences encourage curiosity and appreciation for the diverse community we live in.

  • Our Montessori school follows the original philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, where children are guided to develop independence, curiosity, and confidence within a carefully prepared classroom environment.

The teachers are caring, informed and knowledgeable at each different age level. My daughter has blossomed here. Her language, motor skills and emotional balance is astonishing for a 4 year old. She knows her numbers, sounds can cut with scissors, and can write her name and numbers unprompted. There are always themes, parties and learning events to keep her engaged. She loves to go to school which is an amazing start to her educational journey.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Montessori Toddler Child Care Program

What makes the Heritage Montessori toddler program different from other programs?

Many parents initially begin their search looking for childcare, but quickly realize they want something deeper for their kids. At Heritage Montessori, we focus on authentic Montessori teaching that supports independence, curiosity, and emotional health during the earliest years of development. While some families begin by searching for childcare services, they often discover that we are not a toddler daycare, but a Montessori learning environment where children grow with confidence and joy. Our goal is to create a place where kids feel safe exploring, learning, and experiencing the fun of discovery every day.

How do your Montessori guides support my toddler’s development in your preschool environment?

In a Montessori environment, children are supported by amazing teachers, whom we call guides, who are trained to observe and understand each child’s unique development. These guides create meaningful experiences that support communication, movement, and confidence during the early infant and toddler years. Through gentle support and thoughtful teaching, children begin discovering what they are capable of doing for themselves. Many parents tell us they feel hopeful as they watch their child grow more independent and confident after enrolling.

What does a typical drop-off look like for toddlers in your early childhood education program?

Morning arrival is a calm and welcoming moment designed to help children feel safe and secure. During drop-off, families are warmly greeted, and children are gently guided into the classroom. Some days, a mom may see her daughter walk confidently into the classroom, while on another day, a son may need an extra hug before beginning his morning. Our goal is to ensure that every child starts the day feeling supported and ready to explore.

How does the Montessori classroom support toddlers' social development in your preschool?

The Montessori classroom encourages children to interact naturally with other children as they work and explore together. These experiences help toddlers build early social skills, practice communication, and learn how to cooperate with peers. Through shared activities and collaborative exploration, children develop friendships and empathy that support both emotional development and long-term health and well-being.

How do I know if my toddler is ready for a Montessori toddler program or a Montessori preschool?

Many parents wonder whether their kids are ready to enroll, especially if their babies have never been away from home. In reality, readiness often shows up in small moments, like your son or daughter wanting to explore, communicate, and do things independently. Visiting our Montessori child care center can help families see how a nurturing environment supports early childhood care, confidence, and social development, while giving parents a sense of peace and hope for their child’s next step.
