Directed

The early childhood stage is one of the most influential periods of human development. During this time, children rapidly expand language, curiosity, and independence while building the foundations for future academic success. Research consistently shows the importance of high-quality education programs during the early learning years, as these experiences support cognitive, emotional, and social development. At Heritage Montessori, our primary school program builds upon the natural curiosity that young children bring into the classroom. Through authentic Montessori practice, students engage with carefully designed materials that support early education and meaningful exploration.

Between the ages of three and six, young children experience remarkable growth in language, concentration, and independence. Our Montessori curriculum supports this development process through purposeful learning areas designed to help students explore and build knowledge.

  • Practical LifePractical life activities help children strengthen coordination and independence through everyday tasks. These activities support child development while building responsibility, concentration, and confidence.

  • Sensorial Sensorial materials help preschoolers refine their senses and organize their understanding of the world. Through hands-on exploration, students develop observation skills, pattern recognition, and a deeper awareness of their environment.

  • LanguageLanguage development expands rapidly during early childhood. Children work with sandpaper letters, phonetic sounds, and storytelling activities to develop reading and writing skills while strengthening communication skills.

  • Mathematics – Montessori math materials introduce numerical concepts through hands-on learning. By exploring quantity, patterns, and relationships, students develop a strong mathematical understanding that supports later grade-level learning.

  • Cultural Exploration – Children explore geography, science, nature, music, and art as they discover the wider community and world around them. These experiences encourage curiosity and broaden their understanding of different cultures and environments.

The teachers are caring, informed and knowledgeable at each different age level. My daughter has blossomed here. Her language, motor skills and emotional balance is astonishing for a 4 year old. She knows her numbers, sounds can cut with scissors, and can write her name and numbers unprompted. There are always themes, parties and learning events to keep her engaged. She loves to go to school which is an amazing start to her educational journey.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Montessori Preschool Programs

What makes the Heritage Montessori primary school different from other preschool programs?

At Heritage Montessori, our primary school program goes beyond traditional preschools by offering a thoughtful Montessori education that supports early learning and independence. Our programs help children develop confidence, curiosity, and strong academic foundations through hands-on exploration. Families often choose our primary school because it provides meaningful early learning programs that nurture both intellectual and social growth. These experiences support school readiness and prepare children to transition smoothly into kindergarten and future school success.

How do your early learning and pre-k programs help children build school readiness?

Our pre-k programs and early learning programs are designed to strengthen school readiness through purposeful Montessori experiences. During the school year, children work with materials that build language, problem-solving, and mathematical skills while developing confidence and independence. These pre-kindergarten experiences help students grow academically and socially, so they are well prepared when they begin kindergarten. Families appreciate that our early learning environment focuses on helping children become capable, curious, and successful learners.

How does the Montessori approach support pre-kindergarten and early learning development?

The Montessori approach supports pre-kindergarten development by allowing children to learn through exploration and discovery. In our primary school, Montessori-trained teachers, whom we call guides, carefully observe each child and introduce lessons when they are ready to learn new concepts. These experiences help children strengthen early learning, develop problem-solving abilities, and build independence through hands-on practice. By participating in purposeful early learning programs, children gain the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in kindergarten and later school experiences.

Do you offer child care options for families with young children attending preschool programs?

Yes. Heritage Montessori offers flexible childcare options that support families throughout the school year. Our programs include full-day pre-opportunities designed to support four-year-olds and other children enrolled in our Montessori primary school. These services help parents feel confident knowing their child is learning, growing, and cared for in a supportive environment. Families also appreciate the sense of inclusion and community that develops when children attend our Montessori school.

Why should I schedule a tour of the Heritage Montessori primary school before enrolling?

Choosing the right primary school for your child is an important decision for many families, and visiting in person can provide clarity and confidence. During a tour, parents can see how children engage in authentic Montessori early learning programs, observe the classroom environment, and understand how our preschool, pre-k, and pre-kindergarten programs support strong school readiness. Our admissions team will walk you through our programs, explain our education approach, and answer questions about how your child can attend and grow within our supportive school community throughout the school year. Seeing the environment firsthand helps families understand how Heritage Montessori supports confident learners who are prepared for kindergarten and a lifetime of successful early learning.
